Maarten Weynants

Maarten was born and raised in Ghent, but chose two other Belgian towns to study: Leuven (Dutch-English linguistics & literature at KULeuven) and Brussels (Manama radio & tv journalism at Erasmushogeschool). His first job as a video journalist was with AVS local television in 2006, then he moved to VRT in 2012. In 2014 Maarten started working for Belga News Agency as a video journalist. He is interested in (almost) everything: politics, sports, culture, ... Maarten loves covering important moments in Belgian history. In his spare time Maarten likes spending time with family, friends and reading fiction. Basketball is – by far – his favourite sport.
