DIMITRI FOURNY
Former mayor of Neufchâteau, Dimitri Fourny, has been partially found guilty of forgery and use of forged documents in the electoral fraud case in this municipality of Luxembourg province.
The Criminal Court of Mons has consequently sentenced him to 12 months of imprisonment and a fine of 16,000 euros, with a suspended sentence for a period of five years. Moreover, the former mayor will be banned from participating in any elections for a period of ten years.
The Mons division of the Criminal Court of Hainaut delivered its judgment on Monday 22 May in relation to the case of false proxies that disrupted the election on October 14, 2018, in Neufchâteau. Dimitri Fourny, who won the election by a margin of sixteen votes, has been found guilty of six counts of forgery and use of forged documents. However, he has been acquitted of other charges. The allegations of breach of trust and fraud have not been established, nor has the aggravating circumstance of criminal association.
